LGBT group holds ‘queer formal’ for ages 12-19 – with no parents allowed

A controversial homosexual youth group is holding a “queer formal” in Sydney where kids as young as 12 will be exposed to “drag queen” performances while their parents are barred from entering.

Minus18, a registered “LGBTQIA+ youth” charity that receives hundreds of thousands of dollars in government funding every year, advertised the now-sold out Saturday night event as a night of “music, DJs, drag and dancing”.

The event description boasts sponsorship from City of Sydney Council and promises gender neutral bathrooms, and “safety angels”, but states: “Strictly for 12 to 19 year olds only. No parents or guardians in the event space.”

The listing sparked criticism when it was posted on X by political commentator Katherine Deves Morgan, with many Aussies questioning why 12-year-olds were allowed without parental supervision.

“Just overlooking the fact that 19 is actually plus one more than 18, WTF does a 19-year-old have in common with a 12-year-old?” asked Sall Grover, founder and CEO of female social media platform Giggle.

“Our taxes are funding this,” wrote another.

Minus18 was founded by prominent homosexual community figure Colin Billing, who died in 2009 after being charged with the sexual assault of three teenage boys, the Star Observer reported after his death.

The charity now runs “queer formal” events, “life-affirming programs” for teenagers, and “LGBTQIA+ education sessions” in schools, and creates “Pride Packs” to “spread LGBTQIA+ inclusion in schools, workplaces and family homes”.

One Minus18 brochure handed out in schools and obtained by Noticer News is titled “A guide to using pronouns in schools and services” and encourages teachers to “normalise sharing pronouns”.

It also contains a false claim that the “deliberate use of the incorrect pronouns” is unlawful under the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (SDA).

Changes to the SDA in 2013 banned discrimination against a person on the basis of their gender identity, but the legislation does not mention pronoun use, and the citation linked to in the brochure is to a style manual for Australian government employees which does not claim that “misgendering” is illegal.

According to its most recent annual report the charity is funded by state and local governments, including Victoria, the City of Melbourne and the City of Adelaide, and woke corporations lululemon, Bonds, Converse, Hilton Hotels, Uber, Disney, and Allens, and by the Sidney Myer Fund.

Minus18 also partners with influential “transgender” lobby group ACON, which pushes far-left extremist gender ideology in workplaces and has hundreds of businesses and government agencies, including ASIO and federal and state police forces, competing in its Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI).
