Trump warns mass immigration is causing ‘civilisational erasure’

The Trump administration has released a new national security document warning that immigration is causing “civilisational erasure” in Europe and turning members of NATO into non-European countries and unreliable allies.

The National Security Strategy 2025 declares “the era of mass migration of over” and promises the US will act to prevent the European Union and other globalist institutions from opening borders and suppressing free speech and political opposition.

The 30-page policy document also lays out how the US will approach military and economic challenges posed by China, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa, emphasises stability in Europe in relation to Russia, and calls a speedy end to the war in Ukraine a “core interest of the United States”.

In a section titled Promoting European Greatness, the document warns that “economic decline is eclipsed by the real and more stark prospect of civilisational erasure”.

“The larger issues facing Europe include activities of the European Union and other transnational bodies that undermine political liberty and sovereignty, migration policies that are transforming the continent and creating strife, censorship of free speech and suppression of political opposition, cratering birthrates, and loss of national identities and self-confidence,” the document states.

“Should present trends continue, the continent will be unrecognisable in 20 years or less. As such, it is far from obvious whether certain European countries will have economies and militaries strong enough to remain reliable allies. Many of these nations are currently doubling down on their present path. We want Europe to remain European, to regain its civilizational self-confidence, and to abandon its failed focus on regulatory suffocation.

“Over the long term, it is more than plausible that within a few decades at the latest, certain NATO members will become majority non-European. As such, it is an open question whether they will view their place in the world, or their alliance with the United States, in the same way as those who signed the NATO charter.”

The security strategy also states the US will “oppose elite-driven, anti-democratic restrictions on core liberties in Europe, the Anglosphere, and the rest of the democratic world”, echoing previous comments made by Vice-President JD Vance at a security conference in Munich in February.

“In particular, the rights of free speech, freedom of religion and of conscience, and the right to choose and steer our common government are core rights that must never be infringed,” the document states.

“Regarding countries that share, or say they share, these principles, the United States will advocate strongly that they be upheld in letter and spirit.”

The documents further warns that throughout the world “mass migration has strained domestic resources, increased violence and other crime, weakened social cohesion, distorted labor markets, and undermined national security” and states the “era of mass migration must end”.

“The United States will unapologetically protect our own sovereignty,”  the strategy states, and goes on to warn about using “global talent” as an excuse to open up America’s labour market to the world.

“This includes preventing its erosion by transnational and international organisations, attempts by foreign powers or entities to censor our discourse or curtail our citizens’ free speech rights, lobbying and influence operations that seek to steer our policies or involve us in foreign conflicts, and the cynical manipulation of our immigration system to build up voting blocs loyal to foreign interests within our country”

Australia is mentioned only three times throughout the document – as part of The Quad with India and Japan, as a nation that must “adopt trade policies that help rebalance China’s economy toward household consumption”, and as needing to increase defence spending to deter China.

The release of the security strategy comes after the US State Department sent cables to embassies in Europe and the Anglosphere warning of the dangers of mass immigration and demanding the collection of data on immigrant crime and human rights abuses.
