An elderly Melbourne couple overpowered a hammer-wielding African home invader after he broke into their garage, but the thug is still on the run almost seven months later.
Victoria Police on Tuesday released an image of the a man who may be able to assist with their investigation into the incident at the home on Petrik Drive, Keilor, at about 1.30pm on April 25.
“He is perceived to be African in appearance, about 185cm tall, aged in his late-teens to early-20s and wearing a red-and-black hoodie,” police said.

CCTV footage shows the hooded thug entering the open garage door, and police said once inside he assaulted the 69-year-old male homeowner with the hammer.
But the man and his wife managed to overpower the attacker, and he fled down the driveway before driving off in a white BMW, possibly a 320i model, according to Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives.
The husband suffered bruising and cuts but did not require hospital treatment.
